Annual Leave Hack 2019: How to travel for 18 consecutive days using only 9 days of annual leave

It’s safe to say we’re all looking forward to the summer months where we won’t have to wake up in darkness and go home from work in darkness too.

If you’re an avid traveller but holding down a job to pay the bills at home you may want to think strategically about how you use your annual leave days in order to make the most of your time off from work.

If you work in an office job in the UK and are fortunate to get bank holidays off work, here’s how you can get 18 consecutive days off work by using only 9 days of annual leave.

As April 19th is Good Friday this year and April 22nd is Easter Monday you’ll benefit from two bank holidays plus a weekend kick-starting your holiday using no annual leave. You then need to take the whole of the rest of that week (April 23rd to April 26th) and the following week (April 29th-May 3rd) totalling 9 days of annual leave extended by both weekends and then May Day (6th May) is also bank holiday.

So that’s how you do it, it really is that simple so long as your manager agrees to you having a lengthy time away from the office. All that’s left to do now is decide what you’re going to do with your 18 days!
